Client Recommendations |
|
Below you will find some personal testimonies and recommendations from Past Clients. These comments are authentic but to preserve confidentiality names have been changed. Not all clients who come for counselling are helped to the extent that these people were. But their
comments shows how so many feel about their own counselling. |

AMY age 35 years, private secretary. "I came to counselling in
desperation after a series of failed relationships with a number of men. I
was at loss to know why they didn't last longer than a few months, sometimes
not longer than a few weeks. Bit by bit my Adlerian Counsellor helped me to
understand just how much my early childhood experiences had influenced me
in life, not only in the past , but in the present. This insight helped me
to make the changes I needed. I feel so different, I am pleased to
recommend it to others". |

TOM age 42, social worker. "I can't believe how I have changed. My
hang-ups about my mother, about being overweight and gay, have been turned around. I can now see why I've ended up feeling the way I do. It's been amazing - I am now thinking of training to be a counsellor myself".

GWYNNETH age 66 retired. "I had never had any counselling and when my
doctor advised me to go for counseling I didn't know what to expect. I was
suffering from panic and anxiety attacks about the physical symptoms I am
having. All I could think about was that I had a terminal illness and that
the doctors hadn't spotted what it was. My counsellor was such a support.
At last I had someone to listen to me and also to help me understand what
the real reasons were for my panic attacks. What a relief to be understood
and I understand myself so much better. I wish I had gone for counselling a
lot sooner". |

ALAN age 55 retail car trade. " Four years ago I came home from work to
find a note on the kitchen table. My wife had left me and was off living
with another man. She had taken my 12 year old son with her . From that
time on I was filled with either rage or depression, it affected my work
and my mental state. I thought I was a head case. The doctor put me on
anti-depressants , but my friend told me that his son had been really
helped at the local Adlerian Counselling Centre. I put it off - me, for
counselling? But it got worse and in desperation I 'phoned the Centre. It'
s the best thing I could have done. I had a once a week appointment where
I could sort my mind out. I sussed my feelings out too. The counsellor
helped me to see the purpose of the rage and depression. It was a new
thing to me that I could do something about my feelings. I always thought
you just felt something and that was it. I have moved on and have far
more say in what happens to me than I had before". |

JANIE age 28 waitress. " I came to counselling because my neighbour told
me I needed help and offered to put me in touch with a counsellor. At the
time I was 5 foot 9 inches in height and weighted 7st 4lb. I knew I was
anorexic and the doctors were insisting on regular appointments to check me
out. After 3 months of counselling I weighed 7st 10lb, my first weight
increase in two years. But more important than that, I had come to see why
I had to push myself to the brink and then miraculously survive the way I
did. My counsellor looked to my earliest memories and helped me to see why
I had to control my eating in this way. I cannot thank her enough, neither
can my five year old son who has a much happier mum. |
