INTRODUCTION TO ADLERIAN COUNSELLING


Spring/Summer 2008.

Time: 10 Wednesday Evenings 6.30 – 9pm April 23rd – June 25th 2008
Venue: Adlerian Counselling Centre, 56 St James Street, Narberth
Cost: £300.

Tutor: Linda Edwards, Cert Ed, MA, MEd, Dip. Adlerian Counselling.


Who is the course for?


The Adlerian Society is pleased to announce that it will be running an Introduction Course Spring/Summer 2008 and again in the Summer of 2009. The Course is open entry and will be suitable for anyone who is interested in counselling, personal development, support, working with children and young people, or in understanding what motivates human behaviour.

 

Accreditation


The Course is accredited by the Adlerian Society of the UK and successful completion gives access to the Adlerian Counselling Certificate or suitably qualified professionals on to the Adlerian Diploma.

 

Course content and methodology


The course will include short lectures/seminars, counselling demonstrations, small group work, experiential exercises and one to one tutorials.
There are 8 taught sessions and another two non-taught sessions which are set aside for course members to raise personal/career/professional issues or on questions which arise out of the course material.

 

Course Content includes a range of counselling skills plus


• Key concepts and theory of Adlerian Psychology

• Birth Order: understanding how our place in the family system influences our personality

• Childhood Early Memories: the key to understanding human behaviour and self-concept

• Counselling Demonstrations

• Encouraging Co-operative Children: the mistaken goals of child behaviour

• Family Constellations: How Family Atmosphere, Values & Myths play their part in our lives

• Dreams and their interpretation

• The Adlerian concept of Neurosis and Mental Health

• Social Interest: the measure of mental health

• How to bring about changes of behaviour

• Practice in a range of Counselling and Communication skills.
