Our History

The Adlerian Society of Wales was formed in June 2003 initially bringing together some 15 professional counsellors and therapists in Pembrokeshire, Ceredigion and Carmarthenshire. The Society currently has 50 members, 80% of whom are either student or professional counsellors the other 20% are members of the general public interested in counselling and their own ongoing personal development. During 2001 and 2002 training courses on counselling were started at Trinity College Carmarthen. In Spring 2003 an Adlerian Society was formed and decided to start looking for suitable premises that could be used as a centre for training counsellors and offering a low-cost service to the local community. The Society is now housed in a spacious Victorian 2 storey building in the Centre of Narberth. The Society is a registered Charity No 1104457.

The Adlerian Society of Wales is subject to the code of ethics of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy ( BACP) The Society operates an equal opportunities policy and in particular we would welcome more male students and members of different ethic groups.
